The 2012 Seahawks 12K Run at The Landing is almost here, bringing hundreds of runners to North Renton.

Runners can register online until just before midnight today (Thursday, March 29) or on race day Sunday starting at the course at 7 a.m.

The 12K run starts at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Landing, on a route that takes runners along the southeast shore of Lake Washington to the Seahawks training facility, the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, and back again.

The GLOW 5K Run/Walk will also start at 9 a.m. and tour The Landing and surrounding Renton neighborhoods. The Seahawks Play 60 Kids Run starting at 10:30 a.m. will remain entirely within The Landing.

The runs will necessitate some street closures, according to the City of Renton:

• Northbound and southbound Lake Washington Boulevard North will be closed between North Park Drive and I-405 (near Seahawks Way) from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Local circulation between minor intersecting streets and driveways will be allowed where possible only when it does not jeopardize the safety of the runners.

• Southbound Park Avenue North will be closed between North Park Drive and North Fourth Street at 8:30 a.m. and will reopen at approximately 11 a.m.

• Logan Avenue North will be closed between North Third Street and Park Avenue North at 8:30 a.m. and will reopen at approximately 11 a.m.

The Seahawks 12K Run at The Landing will help raise money for A Better Seattle, which is designed to create a culture of safety and peace by reaching at-risk youth and reducing violence in communities.
