RRFA responds to house fire in Kent East Hill

The fire started in the chimney box and extended into the attic. No one was hurt during the incident.

Renton Regional Fire Authority responded to a house fire in Kent’s East Hill March 12.

The fire started around 11:32 a.m. in a house located on the 22300 block of 117th Avenue Southeast.

According to a press release, the fire started in the chimney box and extended to the attic.

“The owner, while burning some papers in the fireplace, heard noise in the wall by her chimney and went outside to find flames coming from where the chimney box connects to the roof. She then called 911 and waited outside for the fire department to arrive,” read the release.

No one was hurt during the incident.

Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority was the first to respond to the incident. RRFA, King County Medic One and Rehab 1 also helped put out the fire.

Fire investigators ruled the cause of the fire to be accidental due to the high heat igniting debris in the chimney box.
