Rotary Teachers of the Month for January

The Rotary Club of Renton has honored its Teachers of the Month for January.

The Rotary Club of Renton has honored its Teachers of the Month for January.

  • Monique Cabellon is a third grade teacher at Cascade Elementary School.

    She received a bachelor’s in elementary education with a minor in early childhood education from Central Washington University.

    She continued her education, early a masters in educational technology from City University.

    Before joining Renton Schools, Cabellon was a corporate trainer and taught technology and management classes to adults.

    This is Monique’s ninth year teaching in the Renton School District.

  • Kristen Schutter is a kindergarten teacher at Hazelwood Elementary.

    She earned a bachelor of science in elementary education from Western Illinois University.

    While living in Chicago, she taught in a private preschool.

    This is Kristen’s 13th year teaching in Renton.

  • Michelle Opiniano is a Science teacher at Dimmitt Middle School.

    She earned a business degree in marketing from University of Montana Missoula.

    Opiniano continued her education at City University in Seattle, where she earned her masters in teaching with a K-8 endorsement. While she worked on her masters degree, Michelle worked in Management at Nordstrom for four years.

    Michelle has been a teacher in Renton for 12 years.

As part of the recognition, teachers attend Rotary’s Teacher of the Month luncheon at Maplewood Golf Course. Each teacher receives $200 for classroom supplies or instructional materials.
