The Rotary Club of Renton has honored its Teachers of the Month for October.
As part of the recognition, teachers attend Rotary’s Teacher of the Month luncheon at Maplewood Golf Course. Each teacher receives $200 for classroom supplies or instructional materials.
• Erica Anderson is a fourth-grade teacher at Highlands Elementary. She majored in elementary education and
English at North Park University in Chicago, Ill. From the the University of Washington she earned a Masters of Education in curriculum and instruction, with a focus on language, literacy and culture.
Anderson has been a teacher in Renton five years.
• Janet Schultz is a sixth-grade special education teacher at Nelsen Middle School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in outdoor recreation from the University of Memphis and a master’s degree in special education from the University of Memphis.
Before teaching, Schultz worked several years as a park ranger in national parks around the country.
This is Schultz’s 17th year teaching in Renton.
• Mike Oliver is a program facilitator at Renton Academy. He earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and psychology from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s degree in education from the University of Washington.
Before joining the Renton School District, Oliver worked in a group home for children with emotional and behavioral challenges.
This is Oliver’s ninth year teaching in Renton.
