Rotary and CISR provide 530 new coats for children

Rotary Club of Renton and Communities in Schools Renton joined together for Operation Warm to provide new coats for children.

The Rotary Club of Renton and Communities in Schools Renton (CISR) joined together today to ensure hundreds of children throughout Renton will have a new warm coat this winter.

The two organizations distributed about 530 new winter coats, along with hats and gloves to children from every school and all areas of the Renton School District. The annual coat giveaway couples together the two organizations that have a history and desire to ensure children and families thrive in our city. This year, CISR was also able to hand out school supplies.

“Renton is blessed to have such a giving community,” said Joyce Walters, interim executive director for CISR. “While we have many in the community with ongoing needs, we also have individuals and groups stepping forward to share what they have. We are thankful to the Rotary Club Renton for the support of our children through this project.”

“Renton Rotary strives to make a positive impact in this community and being able to purchase and provide these coats is truly our honor,” said Renton Rotary President Lora Ueland. “Working with our community partners, such as CISR, allows us to broaden our reach for the greater good.”
