The City of Renton will once again open a severe-weather shelter starting Thursday night at the Harambee Center in downtown Renton.

Dangerously low temperatures and snow accumulation are expected during the upcoming days and this is part of the city’s efforts to prepare.

The shelter will be open nightly, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., from Jan. 10 to 13. The Renton Harambee Center is  at 316 S. Third St.

The shelter is intended for single women and men, couples and homeless families with children, who are living on the street or in vehicles, but all are welcome. There will be separate sleeping spaces for men, women and for families with children.

Catholic Community Services is partnering with the City of Renton and volunteers from the Kent and Renton community. Guests are required to register at the door and there are rules for health, safety.
