Topics covered at this workshop will include: land use, economic development, parks and recreation, utilities, and housing and human services.

The City of Renton Department of Community and Economic Development will hold a public workshop to discuss topics related to Renton’s Comprehensive Plan from 5 to 7 p.m. June 25 in the Council Chambers on the seventh floor of Renton City Hall.

Topics covered at this workshop will include: land use, economic development, parks and recreation, utilities, and housing and human services.

Information gathered at the workshop will be used to develop the policies of the Comprehensive Plan. Participants will also get to see the results of the Visioning workshop that was conducted in February.

The City of Renton is updating its comprehensive plan in accordance with the Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA) governed by RCW 36.70A. Comprehensive plans establish policies for community growth and development and guide city decision making in several areas. Most jurisdictions in the state are required to adopt a comprehensive plan consistent with the GMA and update their plan every eight years. Renton’s update will take about two years to complete and is due to the state in June 2015. Public participation is a key component of the effort to update Renton’s Comprehensive Plan.

Anyone who wishes to stay informed about the comprehensive plan update as it progresses should send their contact information to PlanUpdate@rentonwa.gov or call 425-430-6578.
