The 17-year-old Renton boy injured in a hit-and-run collision on Sunday died Tuesday morning at Harborview Medical Center, according to the Renton Police Department.

The teenager, who was skateboarding, was struck by a white Dodge Magnum at about 5:40 p.m. in the 4200 block of Northeast First Street.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to release his name.

The driver, a 16-year-old Renton boy, appeared in court Tuesday for the first time. He’s in custody at the King County Juvenile Detention Facility in Seattle.

The suspect was identified through a friend of the victim, who provided a possible name after hearing the description of the driver and vehicle, according to Terri Vickers, a spokeswoman for the Renton Police Department.

The victim’s brother located a photo of the suspect on Facebook and positively identified the photo as the driver of the suspect vehicle, she said.

It’s anticipated the 16-year-old will be charged Wednesday with felony hit and run resulting in a death.

The Dodge is in police custody.
