Renton School District changes Seahawks parade absence decision

Renton School District officials have reversed their decision about student absences due to Wednesday's Seattle Seahawks victory parade in downtown Seattle.

The Renton School District has changed its policy about student absences due to Wednesday’s Seattle Seahawks victory parade in downtown Seattle, spokesperson Randy Matheson said in an email.

In a message on the district’s website and Facebook page the district explained their change of heart:

“Upon further review of the excused absence policy (specifically around family time) and communication with our neighboring districts, Renton School District will allow excused absences for students with parent/guardian permission for those who attend the Seattle Seahawks victory parade in Seattle on Wednesday, February 5, 2014.”
