Renton Salvation Army offers opportunities to help those in need

The Renton Salvation Army is hosting several opportunities to help out the less fortunate in the community starting with a Holiday Bazaar this weekend.

The Renton Salvation Army is hosting several opportunities to help out the less fortunate in the community starting with a Holiday Bazaar this weekend.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday (Nov. 12) at their community center, 720 Tobin St., Renton.

There will be all hand-made items and a snack bar with funnel cakes and lemonade. Admission is free, but attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the food bank.

The downtown Fred Meyer is also hosting a Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit the Salvation Army Renton Rotary Food Bank and their Thanksgiving Assistance Program.

The store will be selling pre-assembled food bags with Thanksgiving fixings for under $10, with the food bags donated to the Salvation Army truck at the store.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Nov. 17 at the Fred Meyer, 365 Renton Center Way S.W. in Renton.

The Salvation Army is also accepting monetary donations for its Thanksgiving and Christmas programs, which can be mailed to the attention of Holiday Assistance Campaign at P.O. Box 977, Renton, WA 98057.
