Renton Rotary Club has selected their Teachers of the Month for March.

Teresa Coda is a science teacher at Hazen High School. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where she majored in psychology and minored in biology. Coda then earned her teaching certificate from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Los Angeles then continued at Grand Canyon University to earn a master’s in teaching. Before becoming a teacher, Coda was an alcohol and drug counselor in California. From her experience as a counselor she decided she wanted to become a teacher. She has been teaching in Renton for 17 years.

Mickey Dunn is a fifth-grade teacher at Highlands Elementary School. He attended Central Washington University, in Ellensburg. There he earned a bachelor’s degree in leisure services, with an emphasis in outdoor recreation. Dunn also earned a master’s degree in teaching from City University. Before becoming a teacher, he worked as a Catholic youth minister for ten years at St. Anthony Church in Renton. Dunn has been teaching in Renton for six years.

Kaci Aguilar is a fourth-grade teacher at Renton Park Elementary School. She attended Western Washington University, where she majored in interdisciplinary childhood development. Aguilar is planning to continue her education with Grand Canyon University to earn a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction for reading. She has experience teaching first and second grades and also spent time as a para-educator, while she earned her teaching degree. This is Aguilar’s ninth year teaching in Renton.

As part of the recognition, teachers attend Rotary’s Teacher of the Month recognition luncheon held at the Maplewood Golf Course.
