Applications are now being accepted for the Renton Police Department Citizen’s Academy which begins March 1.

The department is offering insight into what it is like to be a police officer.

Classes will be held on Tuesday nights for twelve weeks and topics will include patrol operations, SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics), narcotics, crisis communications, K9 and more. The Academy includes a tour of the dispatch center and a ride-aong with a police officer.

Applicants will undergo a background check and must be 18-years-old.
