Renton plans Arbor Day event on April 24

The City of Renton’s annual Earth Day and Arbor Day celebration is 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at Ron Regis Park on State Route 169.

Arbor Day is celebrated to promote the planting and care of trees, which is one of the most effective ways to protect the environment. Volunteers are encouraged to join the celebration and help plant trees and shrubs, spread landscaping chips or clean areas in the park along the Cedar River trail and help promote a healthy environment.

For more information and to register for the event, please contact the Community Services Department at 425-430-6600 or visit rentonwa.gov.

For the second year, Renton was recognized as a Tree City USA Community by the non-profit organization Arbor Day Foundation.
