Renton motorcyclist hurt in hit-run accident on Talbot; other driver later found

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a hit-run accident Thursday morning on Talbot Road South, according to Renton Police.

The accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Talbot Road and South 177th Street.

Later in the day, the Renton Police Traffic Investigation Unit identified and located the female driver of the Ford Fusion involved in the collision. The 65-year old Issaquah resident was interviewed and released pending the filing of charges, according to Renton Police Commander Paul Cline.

The driver of the Fusion had left the scene without stopping after striking the motorcycle, according to Cline. Witnesses at the scene described the Ford and officers located it parked and unoccupied in the northwest parking area of Valley Medical Center.

The motorcyclist, a 30-year-old Renton man, was southbound on Talbot Road when a westbound Ford Fusion pulled out from a stop sign at South 177th Street onto Talbot Road into the path of the motorcycle, colliding with it, according to Cline.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Valley Medical Center with serious but non life-threatening injuries, according to Cline.

The preliminary investigation at the scene indicated that the driver of the Ford failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle, according to Cline.
