Renton man shot in Federal Way, dies from injuries

Federal Way police responded to reports of gunshots around 3 a.m. May 16.

A homicide investigation is underway after a 28-year-old Renton man was shot in Federal Way and later died from his injuries, according to Federal Way police.

At about 3 a.m. May 16, officers were dispatched to a call for service at an apartment complex in the 32200 block of Military Road South in Federal Way, where the 911 caller reported hearing sounds of gunshots, said FWPD Cmdr. Kurt Schwan.

When officers arrived to the Lodge at Peasley Canyon Apartment Homes, they found a man in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Officers performed life-saving efforts until relieved by South King Fire and Rescue medics.

The victim, a 28-year-old man with a Renton address, was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The following day, detectives were notified the victim had died from his injuries, Schwan said.

No suspect information is available at the time.
