Renton Municipal Court Judge Terry Jurado was presented with a special Lifesaving Award July 20 at the American Legion’s Department of Washington Annual Convention in Yakima.

The award was one of several that the veterans’ organization gives to selected law enforcement officers, firefighters and, in some cases such as this one, individual citizens acting on their own, each year.

Judge Jurado, himself an Air Force veteran, was nominated by the Renton Fred Hancock Legion Post 19 for heroic actions he took last year while at a community baseball game to administer CPR to a participant who had suffered cardiac arrest until responding firefighters could take over, helping to save that individual’s life in the process.
