A 15-year-old Renton youth was robbed of a Renton School District laptop computer at about 6:20 p.m. Oct. 20 at a bus stop in front of Renton High School, 400 S. Second St., according to Renton police.

Police found him in pain, lying on a sidewalk on Shatttuck Avenue near the high school. He was holding his head and stomach. He was taken by Renton aid crews to Valley Medical Center.

The teen told officers he was punched, strangled and kicked by two black males, 16 or 17 years old, before they stole the school district’s computer. Both were wearing jackets, one black and one blue.

The victim told police he was waiting at the Metro bus stop on South Second Street, holding a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer inside a black carrying case. The computer is owned by the Renton School District.

One of the suspects asked him whether he would sell the laptop. He said no, then tried to get onto the bus. One of the suspects grabbed the computer and ran south on Shattuck Avenue. The victim gave chase and the suspect dropped the laptop. The victim retrieved it.

The second suspect threw a rock at the victim, but missed. Then the victim was hit in the chin and one of the suspects strangled him with a forearm, according to police. He could not breathe. He gave up and stopped fighting.

The two suspects then fled on South Third Street with the laptop.

The computer had been checked out to the Renton High student. The computer is equipped with a tracking system, which helped in its recovery when it was stolen earlier.
