RENTON HIGH CENTENNIAL: The big celebration is Saturday at RHS

Following are the stories that appeared in the  Renton High School Centennial special section that first appeard  in the April 22 Renton Reporter.

One hundred years in the making, the Renton High School Centennial is finally here.

Friends of Renton High School have spent the last several months planning Saturday’s celebration, which will include honoring some well-known Renton High grads, such as Mark Prothero, a Kent attorney, Ron Crockett, owner of Emerald Downs racetrack in Auburn, and, of course, a large number of political and community leaders in Renton.

Daytime activities at Renton High, 400 S. Second St., are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday. A buffet dinner starting at 6 p.m. will include honoring 22 outstanding Renton High graduates. Tickets are $65 each and can be purchased at the dinner. About 150 people are expected.

“It’s exciting,” says organizer Terri Briere of the day and all the grads who are coming.
