Renton firefighters wearing pink to raise awareness about breast cancer

Renton's firefighters are sporting a new color through Friday – pink. Members of Local 864 of the International Association of Firefighters have exchanged their regular work uniforms for pink shirts.

Members of Local 864 of the International Association of Firefighters have exchanged their regular work uniforms for pink shirts.

It’s the second time that local members have supported “Care Enough to Wear Pink,” the national campaign that supports National Breast Cancer Awareness.

After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer for women. However, screening tests such as monthly self-examinations, clinical breast exams and mammograms are available that can often detect breast cancer early. Early detection saves lives.
