Terri Briere, president of the Renton City Council, has been appointed to a three-year term on the Citizens Committee on Pipeline Safety by Gov. Chris Gregoire.
“In our state pipeline safety is of critical importance to ensure that our regulations achieve the highest level of safety while enabling our infrastructure to service vital needs of our economy and citizens,” Briere said in a press release.
The Olympic Pipe Line Co., headquartered in Renton, operates a 400-mile pipeline system that runs in a 299-mile corridor from Ferndale to Portland. It supplies jet fuel to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Briere has been a council member since 2000.
She is a member of the King County Growth Management Planning Council, Suburban Cities Caucus and Puget Sound Regional Council Executive Board. She is an owner/president of Briere & Associates, Inc., a general contractor serving the Puget Sound Region.
The 13-member Washington State Citizens Committee on Pipeline Safety, established by the Legislature in 2000, advises state, federal and local agencies on the construction, operation, maintenance and routing of hazardous liquid and natural gas pipelines in Washington.
