Local business leaders are seeking nominations of Renton teachers as part of the annual Renton Chamber of Commerce “Ahead of the Class” awards.

The award is an opportunity to honor Renton teaching staff that work to nurture and prepare children for a productive future. The Seattle Seahawks will be the main sponsor for the award this year.

Teachers selected will receive a cash award of $500 and be honored at a community gala at 7 p.m., April 12 at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center at Renton High School.

Nominations from students, parents, staff and the community for the Ahead of the Class Award are due online by Monday, Feb. 7.
