Renton cancels Hassle Free Holiday Bazaar

The event would be in its 29th year

The city has announced it is cancelling the 2020 Hassle Free Holiday Bazaar.

The bazaar, scheduled for Nov. 20 and Nov. 21, would have been its 29th year.

Over 100 local art and craft vendors have taken part in what is a Renton holiday tradition, and in prior years also gave young sewers a place to show off their handiwork, as previously reported in Renton Reporter.

The city based the decision on King County currently being paused in Phase 2 of Gov. Jay Inslee’s phased approach to reopening businesses and activities. Even if the county were to move into Phase 3 before the bazaar’s opening, the governor’s updated guidelines, which went into effect on July 20, limit non-religious gatherings to no more than 10 people.

Members of the city’s Community Services Recreation and Neighborhoods Division will be in touch with those vendors and past attendees with information on alternative shopping events, according to a city press release.
