RENTON BLOTTER: Two men beat driver traveling on Puget Drive

The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports:

Two men walked into traffic and beat a man sitting at a traffic signal, after he refused to pull off the road.

The men walked up to his Saturn Vue traveling east on South Puget Drive just before Benson Road South April 24.

The driver’s window was partially down; one man pulled on it, breaking it while the other male opened the passenger-side door and punched him in the face, possibly breaking his nose.

Renton fire treated the man at the scene.

Police were able to locate two suspects, who the victim later identified. They were booked on assault, malicious mischief and failure to use a side walk.

Copper theft

About 450 feet of copper wire was stolen from an underground conduit serving city-owned street lights on the 3100 block of Cedar Avenue South.

The theft was reported April 15.

Go Deli burglarized

Go Deli at 306 Williams Ave. S. was burglarized April 18.

A safe containing about $3,000 was taken out through the back door, which was also damaged.

Robbed at gunpoint

A 22-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint outside her boyfriend’s apartment on the 2100 block of Southwest Sunset Boulevard April 20.

She saw two young males approach her, before one said in a muffled voice, “Give me your purse.”

She thought they were joking – until she looked around and saw the second male pointing a gun at her face.

She gave them her purse and walked away unharmed. Police found a suspect, but the woman couldn’t identify him.

Brass knuckles for sale

Police informed a man that he was selling illegal weapons at the 405 Express Mart at 1800 N.E. 44th St. April 26.

After hearing a complaint, an officer discovered brass knuckles and a spring blade knife on display at the counter.

The owner said he didn’t know they were illegal and that a new supplier had told him they were quick-selling items.

The officer gave the man a lesson in the law, instead of citing him. He confiscated the weapons and intends to check up on the store to make sure the items don’t return.

Trespassing at Jack in the Box

A man was arrested for trespassing at The Jack in the Box at 2813 N.E. Sunset Blvd. April 25.

He had been harassing customers for money and freeloading drinks with dirty cups.

When the officer talked to him, he wouldn’t give him his name and kept writing on a notebook.

After being booked, he told the jail he had Aphasia (a language disorder), but it didn’t appear to affect his ability to answer questions.

Tires stolen from a Honda

Four wheels were stolen off a Honda while parked it a driveway on the 300 block of Thomas Avenue Southwest April 28.

When the owner discovered it, the passenger-side was under a cement block.

The tires were estimated to cost about $600.

Laptop stolen from Fry’s parking lot

A man visiting from Israel had his laptop stolen from the Fry’s Electronics parking lot at 800 Garden Ave. N. after leaving it locked in a rental car April 23.

The passenger-side window was shattered. Along with the laptop was a bag containing Israeli cash, an MP3 player and Garmin GPS watch.

Police checked local pawn stores without success.

Domestic drunk

A woman was arrested for punching holes in an apartment wall but was taken to the hospital, because of how drunk she was April 17.

When the officer went to his patrol vehicle for paperwork, he heard a woman yelling loudly. He looked up and she matched the description, short shorts and a white tank top, given by the reporting party.

They arrested her on the 12200 block of Southeast Petrovitsky Road without incident.
