RENTON BLOTTER: Dispute over who stole a purse from Renton Tech

The following information was compiled from City of Renton Police Reports:

A Renton Technical College student was accused of stealing a classmate’s Coach purse, after the girl left it in a hallway during a break May 11.

When the purse went missing, teachers had students from two classes open their lockers to show that they didn’t have the purse.

The students then all agreed to allow security to look through their cars, with the exception of one student. Security found the purse in the back of her Trail Blazer.

When police questioned the girl, they discovered that she took her break with two others, who both had access to the car at some point during the break.

One girl gave a statement that she was with the two girls when they noticed the purse in the hall. The two other girls said the purse owner ought to be taught a lesson for leaving her stuff around, she said.

She then described how one of the girls waited until the hallway was empty to take the purse.

Because names were redacted from this report, it isn’t clear who was accused of stealing the purse, but the officer did give probable cause for an arrest.
