Ed Prince and Robin Jones are locked in a tight battle to replace retiring Renton City Council member King Parker, following the first round of votes posted Tuesday night in the general election.
In another closely watched race, Dr. Paul Joos has taken a commanding lead over Mary Alice Heuschel in their battle for an open seat on the Public Hospital District No. 1 Board of Commissioners.
In two other contested City Council races, incumbents Don Persson and Greg Taylor are easily outdistancing their opponents.
Mayor Denis Law is running unopposed for a second term.
The results released just after 8 p.m. Tuesday represent about 25 percent of Renton’s 42,539 registered voters.
Here are the City Council results posted Tuesday night:
Position 3: Incumbent Marcie Palmer, 7,307 or 98.49 percent, unopposed
Position 4: Sarah Sanoy-Wright, 2,584 or 30.04 percent, incumbent Greg Taylor, 5,984 or 69.57 percent
Position 5: Ed Prince, 4,462 or 50.52 percent, Robin Jones, 4,334 or 49.07 percent.
Position 7: Phyllis Forister, 3,195 or 36.37 percent, incumbent Don Persson, 5,566 or 63.36 percent
Here are the results for District 1, Public Hospital District No. 1 Commission:
Dr. Paul Joos, 17,144 or 58.01 percent
Mary Alice Heuschel, 12,325 or 41.70 percent.
Joos received about 42 percent of the vote in the August primary and seems to have drawn most of the voters who cast their ballots for Jim Grossnickle, who came in third.
The Tuesday night results include about 25 percent of the 139,404 registered voters in the hospital district.
The county Elections Division will post results weekdays, other than Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, at 4:30 p.m. The election will be certified on Nov. 29
