Marijuana was stolen during a home-invasion robbery in Renton on Aug. 7 in which a man pointed a gun at a resident.

No one was hurt in the break-in of the residence in the 3500 block of Northeast 14th Street. A frightened 27-year-old woman told police she was home alone when she heard a thump sometime before 3 p.m. and walked toward the living room to check it out. She heard a second thump at the back of the residence by the kitchen. When she went to the sliding-glass doors to investigate, she parted the blinds and came face to face with the suspect, who then pointed a gun at her and demanded she open the door.

The woman ran into a bedroom, locked the door and closed herself up in an attached bathroom and called police and her boyfriend.

Police arrived along with other residents of the house. Police were told that a male resident’s 2 1/2 ounces of prescription marijuana was stolen from the garage.

A witness saw three individuals running from the backyard shortly after the sound of glass breaking. It was later discovered that the suspects had thrown a rock through the glass door.

Police were able to lift fingerprints off of the sliding-glass door blinds and the dryer in the garage where the marijuana was removed. Suspects were described as two black males and an unknown race male, whom the witness was unable to describe. One of the males was about 6-foot-2-inches tall, 170 pounds and 18 to 20 years old, wearing a white t-shirt and black pants. The second male was about 5-foot-9-inches tall.There is no description of clothes. Both had short hair cuts. This subject appeared to be carrying something as he ran.

 

Missing boy found safe after search downtown

A 3-year-old boy who went missing for about five minutes in the Salvation Army Thrift Store Tuesday morning in downtown Renton set off a large police search.

Eleven Renton Police Department cars responded to area around the store on South Third Street near the Piazza just after 11 a.m. Officers searched inward toward the store from a number of blocks surrounding the store.

However, the child, who was reported missing by his grandmother, was found inside the store.

 

Man pulls a gun on his brother

Two brothers faced off and one drew a weapon on July 30.

One of the brothers who lived in a residence in the 10800 block of 184th Lane Southeast called police around 8:30 p.m.

He said his brother came to his residence and he quickly shut the door after identifying him. He told police he did not want to have anything to do with his brother and asked him to leave.

His brother then got into a brown Jeep and pulled out a black semi automatic pistol and held it out his window, pointing it skyward.

There is no violent history between the two of them. The victimized brother requested a no-contact order be placed on his brother.

 

Vandals who damaged mailboxes arrested

Two mailbox vandals were arrested on Aug. 1.

A witness called police to tell them he saw two males damaging mailboxes in front of his residence in the 18600 block of 116th Avenue Southeast.

Police caught and detained two males matching the description of the suspects. The witness said he was in his bedroom when he heard a loud noise.

He looked out the window which faced 116th and observed the two males damaging the mailboxes that were next to the roadway. The witness’ mailbox was left open, but his neighbor’s was damaged and laying on the ground, broken away from the post.

The two suspects, both 26-years-old, were arrested for investigation of third-degree malicious mischief.

 

Teenage boy attacked walking on Meadow

A 14-year-old boy was attacked while walking in Renton on Aug. 9.

The teenager said he was walking in the 200 block of Meadow Avenue North when he was assaulted from behind by two unknown people. This happened a little after 11 a.m. The boy didn’t get a good look at the suspects but described them as around 18-years-old. One of the suspects  was wearing a red jacket, blue jeans and red “Chuck Taylor” tennis shoes. The other was wearing a grey jacket and black “Nike Air Jordan” tennis shoes. He did not see the race of the suspects.

The 14-year-old suffered from a small laceration and several loose teeth. Renton Fire treated him for the minor injuries.
