Police searching for suspect in Friday incident involving a gun

According to the Renton Police Department, officers were called to the Venue Apartments on Northeast 12th Street at approximately 7:50 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, for a report of a threat with a weapon.

Police are searching for an Hispanic teenage male who allegedly pulled a gun a group at the Venue Apartments and then sped off in a stolen vehicle when police attempted to stop him.

According to the Renton Police Department, officers were called to the Venue Apartments on Northeast 12th Street at approximately 7:50 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, for a report of a threat with a weapon.

Dispatch advised officers the suspects were gone in an older, gold colored van with an unknown license plate. Officers began a search of the area for the gold van and found several possibles.

One officer located a possible suspect vehicle on North Third Street at Sunset Boulevard North. After a check of the plates, the vehicle came back as recently reported stolen to the Renton PD.

Police attempted a high risk stop, but the suspect vehicle sped off north on Sunset Boulevard North. Because of a lack of strong probably cause for the initial crime and the amount of traffic on the roadway, the officer did not attempt to pursue.

A second officer later founds the vehicle abandoned in the 2300 block of Northeast Sixth Place. A K9 track was attempted, but despite what are described as “exhausting efforts by all,” the suspects were not located.

The victim identified the vehicle as the same the suspects were in when they threatened him with a gun. The suspect vehicle was taken into evidence for processing.

The suspect described as a Hispanic male, 16-17 years of age, with black hair and was last seen wearing a tank top.
