Police investigate suspicious device at Kennydale gas station

Police state the mysterious device from Tuesday, June 9, turned out to be two large black tubes willed with concrete.

What appeared to be a pipe bomb was found at near Kennydale AM/PM and gas station on Northeast 30th Street on Tuesday, June 9. The item in question turned out to be two black tubes filled with concrete.

Renton Police Department Cmdr. Dave Leibman stated in an email that around 4:40 p.m. police responded to the suspicious device, which was hidden on the south end of the parking lot. Port of Seattle Bomb Squad investigated the item.

Police do not know why it was placed there, Leibman stated.
