Police hold man at gunpoint downtown who was brandishing gun | Tuesday update

Renton police were holding a man at gunpoint at about 2:10 p.m. Monday, after witnesses reported he was pointing a gun at others at the Safeway gas pumps on South Third Street in downtown Renton.

TUESDAY UPDATE FROM TERRI VICKERS, RENTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Officers investigated the incident and were unable to develop probable cause to determine who the primary aggressor was.   The person with the gun has a valid concealed pistol license, and it appears he was in fear for his safety.  The case will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.

The suspect is described as an Asian male in his 20s.
