POLICE BLOTTER: Father, son argue about stolen bike

The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports.

A Renton father and son are both arrested for investigation of fourth-degree assault April 20.

The two got into a fight at about 1 p.m. at a residence in the 300 block of Union Avenue Southeast when the father accused the son of stealing a bike.

The father, 45, took the bike and hid it the night before. In the morning the son went looking for the bike and broke a bathroom window to enter his grandmother’s house to confront his father about the bike. The grandmother left and went see if the bike was at a neighbor’s house; when she returned, the father and son were wrestling in the hall.

Police arrested the man because of previous violence toward his son and he admitted he acted violently toward him. The son was arrested for grabbing and wrestling with his father and trying to stop him him from calling police.

Police question abduction story

Police are dubious about a 17-year-old’s reported abduction on April 21.

The 17-year-old told police he was at a party at the Masonic Lodge on Williams Avenue South in Renton, when he decided to leave around midnight.

He told police he was outside trying to call his father to come pick him up, when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up at about 1:25 a.m. Four people in black clothing got out the vehicle, approached him and told him to get in. One of the men took his arm and led him into the vehicle. They drove around with him with a pillow case over his head for an hour, then dropped him off at Renton High School.

Police are doubtful the kidnapping occurred because the boy later admitted to lying about being at the Masonic Lodge. He said he was at a nearby park with friends.

Police are unsure whether the boy was using the kidnapping story to mislead his parents about why he wasn’t home.

Cigarette shop robbed

Cigarettes Cheaper, at 4350 N.E. Fourth St., was robbed before 2:30 p.m. on April 17, apparently by a repeat suspect.

Police spoke with the sales clerk at about 2:35 p.m. who was visibly upset and crying. She said the suspect was a Hispanic male, 25-28 years-old, 5-foot-8 and heavy build. He entered the store while his accomplice, a thin black man, 25-30 years-old and about 6 feet tall waited for him outside. The employee said the suspect inside was carrying two large sport-type duffel bags he used to fill up with cigarette cartons.

The suspect told her to give him 45 seconds before she call police.  Both suspects left the store, heading north through the parking lot on foot. The employee called 911.

Police took fingerprints from empty cigarette cartons the suspects touched. The Hispanic suspect’s description matched that of a suspect who robbed the store back on Feb. 7.

Couple argues over affair

A Renton couple got into a heated argument over an alleged affair and naked pictures sent over the internet on April 26.

Police were called to a domestic dispute around 6 p.m. in the 12700 block of Southeast 168th Street. The husband had accused his wife of having an affair with another man and sending that man naked pictures of herself over the internet. The husband went to the computer room and grabbed the woman’s cell phone and said “Here’s all the proof in your phone; you’re going to ruin our family.” The woman tussled with the man, grabbing his left arm and T-shirt, eventually getting her cell phone. Their son intervened and pulled his mother off of his father.

Police arrived and arrested the woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault for intentionally scratching and slapping her husband.
