POLICE BLOTTER: Convenience-store employee robbed at gunpoint

An employee of a 7-11 store on Southeast 168th Street was robbed at gunpoint by a white male at about 3:45 a.m. Sept. 20, according to Renton police.

The victim told officers he was standing at the store’s entrance when the suspect walked up, displayed a black semi-automatic pistol and demanded money, according to Renton police.

The employee walked behind his register and refused to give the suspect money, according to police. The suspect then reached across the counter and took six packs of Marlboro Lights and ran out the door, according to police.

A track by a Tukwila K9 unit was unsuccessful.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens or early 20s, about 5-foot-4 and medium build. The hood on his sweatshirt was up and he had a blue bandana over his face.

Paint, copper stolen

from shed on 114th Ave.

Twenty cans of paint and a 10-foot length of copper tubing were among items stolen from a shed next to a house sometime before Sept. 22 in the 16000 block of 114th Avenue Southeast, according to Renton police.

The lock on the shed had been cut to gain entry.

Husband is booked

for assault over cell phone

A Renton man was booked into Renton City Jail Sept. 22 for investigation of fourth-degree assault after his wife told Renton police that he had assaulted her because she wouldn’t give him her cell phone.

The woman told officers that her husband had hit and pushed her; her lower left lip was slightly swollen and her cheek was red, according to the police report. She declined medical aid.

The victim told police that her husband had just emerged from the shower when he asked for the cell phone. He managed to get the phone after pushing her to the floor and went outside, where he threw the cell phone to the ground, breaking it, according to the report.

He then left, but returned later and called 911 after learning that police were looking for him. His wife and the three children were there.

He told officers he did not understand his rights and asked that an officer read those rights to a nearby friend. The officer declined and stopped the questioning.

The man was then booked, based on his wife’s statements.

A 22-year-old man told Renton police that he was approached by a man on Sept. 20 at a restaurant on Southwest Seventh Street, who asked whether he had marijuana.

The victim said no, but he was approached again by the suspect in the bathroom, who demanded the victim’s money and marijuana, according to police. The victim replied that he had neither.

The suspect took the man’s car keys and at gunpoint ordered the victim from the business, according to police. Outside, a light-colored vehicle was waiting. The suspect pushed the victim to the open passenger door and told him to get in, according to police. The victim refused and ran toward Wal-Mart. The two suspects chased him for a short distance.

The suspects were two black males, about 19 or 20 years old.

Man robbed of debit card

An 18-year-old man told Renton police he was robbed of a debit card on Sept. 5 by two men who had approached him at the Skate Park on Houser Way.

He didn’t report the incident until later because he was afraid his mother would get mad at him.

The victim told officers the two men asked him if wanted to make some money. He got into their car and was driven to a grocery store, where he could access his bank account. The two suspects implied they had a gun.

He was escorted inside and ordered to get a new debit card and PIN, according to police. The suspect ordered the victim to give him the debit card and the victim was then driven back to the Skate Park.

The two suspects were described as black males, one about 6-foot-2 and the other about 5-foot-9.
