A 37-year-old woman got into a glass-shattering bar fight in Renton on July 1.

The heavily intoxicated woman was found crying down the street from JP’s Bar and Grill a little after 1:30 a.m.

She told officers she had been hit in the face and broke a window at the bar, 1055 Sunset Blvd. N.E.

A witness told police he saw the woman get into argument with one of the several males in her party. At one point she picked up a pool ball and tried to hit the male with it. They began to fight and she bit the other male in the chest. He hit her in the forehead trying to get her off of him.

They were separated by the bartender and she grabbed a pint glass and threw it at the man but missed and it went through the front plate-glass window. She was kicked out of the bar after that.

Once outside she began yelling and banging on the front window. She was asked to step away; but instead she slammed her fist through the front glass, collapsing the window.

The other men where gone when police arrived. The woman was arrested on investigation of third-degree malicious mischief.

 

Newspaper set on fire at house

Police investigated a possible residential arson on July 1.

The owners of a home in the 800 block of Lynwood Avenue Northeast returned home from vacation only to find signs of suspicious activity at their house.

The man realized he forgot to have his daily newspaper delivery stopped while they were away. He began picking up newspapers on his property when he noticed that someone had lit one of the papers on fire and propped in up against his house. The burnt newspaper was left leaning against the wood column in between their two vehicles and the garage doors. There was no visible damage to the residence.

The man felt it was attempt to start a fire at his home, but he had no idea who would have done this. He told police he doesn’t have any problems with his neighbors or students he teaches.

 

July 4 party gets violent

A Fourth of July party got out of hand in Renton on July 5.

At a party at a residence in the 1100 block of Harrington Avenue Northeast, some unwanted guests arrived shortly before 1:30 a.m.

A glass bottle was broken over one of the apartment resident’s head. Her brother and a friend tried to defend her. Once the man left the apartment, someone in his group broke out her front kitchen windows. The two males pushed the aggressive male out of the door and someone broke a bottle over his head causing a large cut.

Police observed one female with a cut to her head and another male covered in blood. They could not determine who was the primary aggressor and there were no independent witnesses. The woman was transported to Valley Medical for stitches on her head.

 

Man pulls gun during fight

A group of three women got into a fight with a man who pulled a gun on them on July 1.

The three women were walking in Liberty Park, 1402 Houser Way N., when one was assaulted by a man around 11:30 p.m. The male suspect came up behind one of the women and began rubbing himself against her. The woman asked him to stop, which angered the man and he punched her in the face a couple of times. The woman began to punch him back to get him off of her. The suspect started punching her repeatedly, then pulled a small black handgun from his waist area and pointed it at the woman.

The suspect is described as a black male, 40-years-old, 5-foot-7-inches, medium build, missing a front tooth and wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.

 

Two men cited for smoking pot

Two men were cited for smoking marijuana at Gene Coulon Park on July 4.

A bike patrol officer caught the two, a 32-year-old and a 20-year-old, smoking marijuana out on Bird Island at the park, 1201 Lake Washington Blvd. One of the men stated that he shouldn’t be in trouble because he had stepped out of the way of the general public to smoke. The officer reminded him of the several families that were walking behind him and on a small beach nearby.

The man responded, “It’s just a little weed.”

The men where cited for possession of less than 40 grams of marijuana and released, but ordered out of the park for the rest of the day.

 

Two teens robbed at Liberty Park

Two teens were stalked and then robbed after playing basketball in Liberty Park on July 2.

The 13-year-old and 14-year-old told police around 1:30 p.m. they were robbed behind the Dollar Store, 1222 Bronson Way N.

They had been playing basketball at Liberty Park when they first saw the suspects, two other teens. They then left the park and went to a store on Bronson Way North and Houser Way. Then they went to the Dollar Store and were followed by the two male suspects.

One of the suspects took one of the boy’s money and chips and the other took two drinks and the white ball cap of the other boy. One of the boys was punched in the face by the suspect.

The suspects are described as two light-skinned black juveniles, in their early teens. One was wearing long purple basketball shorts, a purple t-shirt, a purple ball cap and long dark socks with a Nike emblem on them. He also had braided hair.

The other suspect was wearing long red basketball shorts, a red t-shirt, red ball cap and long dark Nike socks.

 

Girl attacked at Kiwanis Park

A 12-year-old Renton girl was attacked in a park on July 5.

The girl was hanging out in Kiwanis Park, 815 Union Ave. N.E., around 2:30 a.m. with a friend. They were approached by black male in his early 20s, who was wearing a backward baseball hat, light blue button-up shirt with a white shirt underneath and black shorts. He asked them if they wanted to smoke marijuana.

They declined and a short time later, the girl was assaulted from behind by the man wrapping his arm around her neck. The friend grabbed the suspect’s hat and hit him with it until he let her go. The suspect then fled on foot.

Police conducted a K9 track of the area and found no suspects.
