The following information was compiled from Renton Police Department case reports.
Responding to an aggressive-dog call Nov. 18 on Southeast 170th Place, the officer rolled down his window and called to the dog to determine its demeanor.
The German shepherd backed away, barked and bared its teeth. The dog stood its ground after the officer got a catch pole but never advanced. He ran off into a front yard.
The officer continued to corner the dog, which acted aggressively and ran back and forth to a fenced back yard. A neighbor ran into her house after the dog advanced on her.
The officer grabbed his rifle and prepared to shoot the dog because of its aggressive behavior. However, the owner arrived and took control of the dog.
She’ll check the fence for any broken slat. The dog is licensed, but she was told it’s unlawful to allow a potentially dangerous dog to run loose.
The case was referred to animal control, which determined the dog’s actions fit the definition of a potentially dangerous dog. The owner faces a criminal citation for allowing a vicious dog at large if it escapes again.
Woman gets heated during church meal
A 30-year-old woman receiving a meal at a downtown church Nov. 16 starting yelling at everyone and pushed one of the servers against the wall.
She was escorted from the church and police were called. She repeatedly used an expletive when talking with officers. Her behavior was volatile.
Without prompting, she fell to her knees and put her hands over he head. She then started throwing the contents of her pocket on the ground. Not knowing whether she had a weapon, an officer placed her in restraints.
She called an officer a number of racial epithets.
She was booked into the SCORE regional jail for investigation of fourth-degree assault.
Black Diamond man shoots BB gun at Wal-Mart
A man grabbed a bottle of BBs and three Airsoft rifles Nov. 17 at Wal-Mart on Rainier Avenue, then kicked open the fire door and fled in a blue Chevrolet Blazer.
Through checking vehicle license records, officers determined the suspect is a 32-year-old Black Diamond man who has been photographed at other Wal-Mart stores after a theft.
There was probable cause to arrest him for third-degree theft. The stolen items were valued at about $314.
