Opportunist shoplifts: At 11 a.m. Dec. 1 in the 17800 block of 108th Avenue Southeast, there was a report that officers responded to a shoplifting. Upon arrival, officers contacted asset protection, who stated that the suspect entered the store and proceeded to the electronics department. The suspect approached a cabinet containing high-value items and took the keys that unlocked the cabinet that an employee had left behind. The suspect exited the store. The suspect re-entered the store an hour later and then used the keys to steal three electronic items. When the suspect left the store without paying, asset protection recovered two of the three items. The suspect then fled in a vehicle.

Chain snatching: At 10:56 a.m. Dec. 2 in the 2800 block of Northeast Sunset Boulevard, there was a report that officers were dispatched to a strong-armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, who stated he had parked his vehicle, and then the suspect vehicle parked directly in front of him. Two suspects exited the vehicle, and one suspect reached in through his window and yanked the necklace off the victim’s neck. An employee intervened as the suspect’s vehicle was leaving and was briefly dragged. Renton Regional Fire Authority was called to evaluate the employee for minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Bottle of liquor in the passenger seat: At 3:19 a.m. Dec. 3 in the 1100 block of Southwest 27th Street, there was a report that officers were dispatched to a driver asleep in a vehicle parked in the grass. Upon arrival, officers observed the driver asleep at the wheel with a bottle of liquor in the passenger seat. When the driver woke up, he showed signs of impairment and refused to exit the vehicle. Officers removed the driver from the vehicle and booked him into jail for DUI.

Object thrown: At 7:58 p.m. Dec. 3 in the 15600 block of Southeast 156th Street, there was a report that officers were dispatched to a domestic assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, who stated he got into a verbal argument with a family member’s girlfriend. The argument turned physical, and the suspect threw an object at the victim’s head, causing minor injuries. The suspect was arrested for fourth-degree domestic-violence assault.

Going the wrong way: At 12:03 a.m. Dec. 4 on Third Street, there was a report that an officer observed a vehicle turning and heading westbound onto a one-way road. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the wrong-way driver. When he contacted the driver, he noticed the driver exhibited signs of impairment and had an odor of alcohol. The officer conducted a field sobriety test on the driver. She failed the test and was booked into jail for DUI.
