Officers arrest man allegedly connected to eight Renton robberies

According to police, the man began the string of robberies in mid-October.

Officers arrested a man suspected of committing a series of robberies targeting small businesses throughout Renton over the last few weeks.

According to the Renton Police Department (RPD), on Nov. 7, detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) arrested a 32-year-old man connected to a series of Renton robberies. RPD stated that officers developed probable cause for eight counts of first-degree robbery, seven counts of second-degree assault and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.

RPD stated that the string of robberies began in mid-October and that investigators are continuing to review additional cases that may be related. According to RPD, the VCU is currently executing search warrants at the suspect’s residence and vehicle, and updates will be shared as new information becomes available.

“We understand these incidents have caused concern in our community, especially among local business owners,” RPD stated. “During an active investigation, we may not share certain details to avoid jeopardizing efforts to identify and apprehend everyone involved.”
