The Landing has plans to open a new Farmers Market in the southwest section of its parking lot this summer. It will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. every Friday afternoon from mid-June until the end of Sept.

According to a press release, The Landing is planning a “very different type of Farmers Market – where local farmers drive up and sell from the back of their trucks.” There will be no processed foods, or foods that need refrigeration, just local produce and flowers – straight from the local farms, usually picked the same day.

The Landing is accepting applications right now for local farmers to participate. There is only room for 20 farmers, and the participation fee is, in their words, “remarkably low.”

According to the release, the restaurants at The Landing are excited about having local farmers on-site and have committed to buying produce from them.
