The following information was compiled from Renton Police Department case reports:

Several officers were needed to control a 24-year-old Kent man who assaulted an employee Feb. 5 at the KCLS library downtown.

The suspect, who appeared agitated, was walking briskly in the area of 200 Mill Ave. when an officer asked him, by name, to stop. He continued walking.

Because of the suspect’s demeanor, the officer decided to handcuff him. The two struggled, but the officer was able to control his movement and called for help.

Several officers were needed to get the suspect into handcuffs and into the police cruiser, where he shouted and thrashed about.

The man had already been banned from the library for 30 days.

He was booked into the SCORE regional jail for obstructing an officer. He also had an arrest warrant for criminal trespassing.

The library employee didn’t want to press charges but wanted the man banned from the library for a year.

Woman’s own tools used to steal television

A Renton woman returned home Feb. 3 on Benson Road South to discover her front door forced open and her 55-inch, wall-mounted TV gone.

Officers determined the burglar gave up trying to kick open the door, so smashed a panel next to the door and reached up to unlock it.

The burglars used tools they found in a toolbox in the garage to remove the big-screen TV from the wall.

Also stolen were jewelry, musical instruments, computer hardware,  and a 25-inch flat-screen TV.

Thieves hit trailers

Between $8,000 and $10,000 worth of bicycles, tools and furniture were stolen Feb. 3 from trailers parked at a warehouse on Monster Road Southwest.

A crowbar may have been used to get inside the trailers.

Police are reviewing surveillance video.
