Mowing the baseball fields at Cascade Vista Athletic Club in Renton just got a little harder for the non-profit organization as someone broke into a storage unit last week and stole a John Deere riding tractor and a push mower.
Officials with CVAC said the mowers were taken during the night of Oct. 23-24.
“Whoever stole lawnmowers forced open the east gate as well as the shed to where the lawnmowers were kept,” CVAC spokesperson Dave Nelsonsaid in a press release. “We were in the beginning of winterizing the field at the corner of Southeast 168th Street and 116 Avenue Southeast. This includes a final mowing. We also use the tractor to maintain the two baseball fields during the season.
“Whoever broke in knew what they wanted as the other storage sheds were not tampered with,” said Nelson.
Anyone with information or may have spotted suspicious activity at the baseball fields is asked to call Renton Police at 425-430-7500 referencing case number 14-12155.
