King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg has until Aug. 30 to decide whether Michael Chadd Boysen will face the death penalty if he’s convicted of killing his grandparents in March.
A case-setting hearing was held Friday, July 12, before King County Superior Court Judge Douglas North, which addressed several issues related to Boysen’s case.
Boysen of Renton faces life in prison or the death penalty if he’s convicted.
Boysen’s trial was tentatively set for Jan. 27, 2014.
He’s being held without bail in the King County jail in downtown Seattle.
Boysen is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his grandparents Norma and Robert Taylor in their Fairwood home March 9 shortly after being released from prison on a burglary conviction.
He was arrested on March 12 in Lincoln City, Ore., where he had fled.
