From a press release:
In observance of Independence Day, King County Metro Transit operates a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Friday, July 3. On Saturday, July 4, Metro operates a Saturday schedule.
All Metro offices, including the Customer Information Office, will be closed on Friday. Most transit information and the Online Regional Trip Planner are available on Metro Online. There are also revisions to South Lake Union Streetcar and King County Water Taxi service on Friday and Saturday.
If your Metro service does not normally operate on a Sunday, it will not operate on Friday. The holiday schedule means that many commuter bus routes will not operate that day. Bus riders should check the schedule for routes they use.
City of Seattle South Lake Union Streetcar
The South Lake Union Streetcar will operate a Sunday schedule on Friday, July 3. It will operate regular Saturday service on July 4. However, from 8 p.m. until approximately 10:15 p.m., the streetcar will operate every 10-15 minutes. Service will stop temporarily during the Lake Union Fireworks show to prepare the streetcars to carry passengers exiting the event. Service will conclude by midnight.
King County Water Taxis
The King County Water Taxi West Seattle route will operate a Sunday schedule on July 3, as will the free Water Taxi DART routes 773 and 775. Regular Saturday service will operate on July 4.
There will be no service on the Vashon Water Taxi route on Friday.
On both Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4, some bus routes may be affected by street closures or traffic associated with community celebrations throughout Metro’s service area. Visit the Service Advisories page for specific reroute information.
Riding transit is a good way to get to area events and celebrations. Even when buses are rerouted, they usually still get close to event venues in their service areas. Expect delays wherever there are crowds or traffic congestion.
Visit Metro Online for information about Metro Transit’s routes, schedules and trip planning, and for information about service provided by Metro’s regional partners – the City of Seattle, Community Transit, Everett Transit, the King County Water Taxi, Pierce Transit, Sound Transit and the Washington State Ferries.
