The Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra is expanding its low cost summer program this August and will be offering two camps.
The first camp, an orchestra camp, will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, Aug. 4-8 at Maple Valley Presbyterian Church. Students 4th grade and up with one year or more playing experience on a stringed, woodwind, brass or percussion instrument are welcome. The theme is Super Hero music. Students will study music from “The Avengers,” “Superman Returns,” “The Incredibles” and more. There will be a concert on the last evening of camp at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
The second camp, a Special Needs Music Camp, will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon daily Aug. 11 through 15 at Taylor Creek Church. This camp has been created by MVYSO’s Music Therapist and Recreation Therapist with the cognitive and physical needs of special needs students in mind. Students in second grade and up are welcome. No musical experience is required.
Each camp is offered at only $75 for the week and each student will receive a camp shirt.
