Man who fled deputies at 100 mph arrested in restaurant bathroom stall

A suspect was arrested Monday afternoon in the restroom of the Claim Jumper’s Restaurant near Southcenter Mall after a pursuit on a stolen motorcycle that began in Covington, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, a 25-year-old Maple Valley man, was driving a GMC SUV in Covington at about 1 p.m. when a deputy tried to maneuver behind him to make a traffic stop. The driver accelerated into a neighborhood.

The SUV struck a tree and the two occupants, including a 27-year-old Renton woman, fled on foot. The woman was arrested, but the man fled on a motorcycle.

Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday were still considering what charges to recommend against the Renton woman.

The pursuit was called off after the motorcycle’s speed reached in excess of 100 mph. However, the sheriff’s Guardian One helicopter followed the suspect from overhead to the Sea-Tac Airport area and down to Southcenter.

The motorcycle ran out of gas. The suspect was found hiding in a stall in the men’s restroom at the restaurant.

He was arrested including investigation of attempting to elude, of drug and firearm possession and possessing a stolen vehicle.
