The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports.
Trouble brewed and one man was arrested at the Cabana Club on June 20.
Police conducted a patrol of the club located at 3650 East Valley Road because of shootings, assaults and domestic disturbances there within the last year. At around 1:30 a.m., police witnessed multiple verbal altercations in the parking lot. A large physical fight broke out between unidentified people.
Police found an unconscious man in the parking lot. While the man was being treated by the fire department, another man rushed police officers yelling obscenities and saying his friend had been pepper sprayed.
As the man lunged at officers he was tasered and arrested for obstruction.
Siblings argue over car parts
A Renton brother and sister argued over car parts and the brother wound up in jail on June 18.
The 25-year-old sister told police the fighting started out as “just brother and sister stuff.” Then the 24-year-old brother asked her to step outside to resolve the issue. Once outside, he punched her in the face. She fell to the ground and lost consciousness. A family friend woke her up and she called police.
When police apprehended the man he told them, “it’s not fighting if it’s with your sister.”
He was arrested for investigation of fourth degree assault.
Boy arrested for spitting
A Seattle boy was arrested at the Renton Transit Center for spitting, outstanding warrants and making false statements to police on June 17.
Police observed the 16-year-old spit at 219 Burnett Avenue South around 8:30 p.m. Spitting at the transit center is a violation.
When the officer confronted him, he smelled alcohol on the teen’s breath. Police found Aderol on the boy and he wouldn’t give his proper identification to the officer.
Eventually police discovered his true identity. They also discovered the boy had two warrants for his arrest. One was for theft and the other was for breaking parole.
Apartments burglarized
The Heritage Grove Apartments in the Highlands were burglarized on June 16 after a fire the previous week.
Since the fire on June 10, sixteen break-ins occurred in the damaged building, 1100 Sunset Blvd. N.E.
The first eleven break-ins had been reported, but five more apartments were broken into over night. There was a security guard on duty from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the morning of June 16.
The apartments were vacant at the time of the burglary. It was not clear whether anything was missing from them, but the deadbolts were damaged. Some were still damaged from when fire crews made their way in; others were mysteriously damaged.
Bomb threat called in to Wal-Mart
A bomb threat was called into the Renton Wal-Mart store on June 16.
An employee of the store at 743 Rainier Avenue South told police they received a call around noon. The caller said in a calm voice with no accent that there was a bomb in the electronics department. The employee asked, “what bomb?”
The caller said, “you need to get out now.”
The store was evacuated and police were called. Nothing suspicious was found in the store and there were no injuries.
The call could not be traced.
