Man found shot to death on Harrington Avenue, possibly self-inflicted

Renton Police are investigating the death Thursday morning of a man found dead in south Renton of what may be self-inflicted gunshot wounds, according to the Renton Police Department.

A witness called 911 at about 10:20 a.m. Thursday about a body in the street in the 1400 block of Harrington Avenue Southeast, according to Detective Robert Onishi.

The caller told 911 dispatchers the man had a rifle and there were obvious injuries and a large amount of blood.

Officers found the man lying on the street, holding a rifle. The injuries were consistent with a gunshot fired at close range, according to Onishi, and initial indications are that the shooting was self-inflicted.

The King County Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of the man’s death and identify him.
