Local engineer helps work on church in Honduras

The volunteers spent the week developing concepts for the Clinic’s new site, designing a long-range plan as well as the first phase

Last month, David Norris, a Mechanical Engineer from Renton,, returned home from a project trip to Santa María del Real, Olancho, Honduras.

Norris was part of a team of architects and engineers from across North America who volunteered their time with Engineering Ministries International’s América Latina office (eMi-AL) in Costa Rica. The team spent a week in Honduras preparing the design for Clínica El Buen Pastor.

The volunteers spent the week developing concepts for the Clinic’s new site, designing a long-range plan as well as the first phase. The first phase is the main clinic and administration complex, with future phases including a diagnostic imaging and surgery center.

At the end of the week, the team was able to present a master plan, schematic building designs and some details for the entire project.

The team is continuing to work on more detailed elements of the design, and will provide El Buen Pastor with a final report within the next six months.
