Lemonade stand charity for kids with cancer returns in June

The Gonzales-Pebworth family will be one of 50 Hero Family State Representatives around the country participating in a national fundraising weekend called Alex’s Lemonade Days, June 12-14.

One Renton family has been chosen for the special honor of representing Washington State for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s fundraising efforts for kids with cancer.

The Gonzales-Pebworth family will be one of 50 Hero Family State Representatives around the country participating in a national fundraising weekend called Alex’s Lemonade Days, June 12-14.

Antonio Pebworth and his mom Olivia Gonzales will host a lemonade stand from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 14, at the CVAC Baseball Fields, 16840 116th Ave. S.E., Renton. The event features appearances by the Seattle Seahawks’ Blitz, a Disney princess, Batman, clowns, face-painting, bounce houses, dunk tank, a taco truck, a hair donation station, a blood drive, bake sale, raffle and of course, lemonade.

Antonio, a young cancer survivor in his 10th year of remission, was featured in a Renton Reporter story last year. He and his mother raised more than $10,000 last year with the same event and have raised more than $50,000 during the past nine years to fight childhood cancer.

“Antonio thought it was really cool to represent Washington,” said Gonzales. “He likes that his story inspires others and that our events help other kids with cancer.”

The mom said it warms her heart to see how many people have been willing to help with a cause that means so much to them.
