UPDATE: As of 3:30 p.m. traffic was moving again on southbound SR 167. However, northbound SR 167 was still slow at its merge with northbound I-405, which also was stop and go.

A jackknifed semi truck at 2:30 p.m. Monday has three lanes of southbound SR 167 blocked just south of I-405 in Renton, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Only the HOV lane is getting through and backups are significant, according to the state. The accident is causing backups on Rainier Avenue into Renton and on Interstate 405.

There is no estimate as to when the truck will be cleared. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes such as southbound I-5 and westbound I-90.
