Disabled vehicles on northbound Interstate 5 Monday evening have brought traffic to a crawl on several local highways and streets.

All northbound lanes on I-5 were blocked by the vehicles near Interurban Avenue in Tukwila at about 4:30 p.m. That blockage in turn has forced southbound traffic on I-405 in Renton to back up for miles as vehicles struggle to get onto I-5 northbound near Tukwila.

Traffic is unusually heavy on northbound West Valley Highway through south Kent and into Renton as drivers search for a northound alternative to I-5.

Long backups are occurring on northbound State Route 167 at I-405 in Renton, too.
