House fire erupts in Skyway; no one injured

The fire was started by cigarette butts disposed in a plastic garbage can.

A house fire broke out on April 5 in the 7600 block of South 126 Street in Skyway. Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority reported that no one was injured.

According to a press release, Firefighters from District 20, Tukwila Fire and Renton Regional Fire Authority responded to reports of fire and flames coming from the front porch of the house around 10:53 a.m. A rehab unit and King County Medic One also responded to the incident. Firefighters were “very aggressive in their fire attack” since there was a possibility someone was inside the house.

Most of the damage to the house was in the attic space and near the front door.

A King County fire investigator determined the fire started by cigarette butts disposed in a plastic garbage can that was near the porch. The fire is considered accidental, according to the release.
