High-wind warning issued for gusts up to 60 mph until about 8 p.m.

A high-wind warning is in effect for Renton and the rest of the Puget Sound region through this evening, with steady winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts out of the south to 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

This afternoon wind gusts were clocked at about 40 mph at Renton Municipal Airport.

Rain is forecast through the weekend, after a short sunbreak on Friday.

The warning is in effect through 8 p.m. Thursday night, when winds will ease to 15 to 25 mph and even more after midnight.

The high winds could topple trees, potentially causing power outages if they fall on power lines, according to the weather service.

The Washington state Department of Transportation is continuing to do avalanche control on Snoqualmie Pass.
